WELCOME TO SAN ANSELMO & FAIRFAX

Two distinct suburban communities nestled in Ross Valley, surrounded by open space and stunning views of the Mt. Tamalpais

About 20-miles North from San Francisco is the popular city of San Anselmo. These areas are almost exclusively suburban, save for the apartments in Seminary, town homes along Sir Francis Drake in Oak Manor, and each area provides beautiful views of Mt. Tam from many vistas.

Fairfax is the next town west of San Anselmo, and commonly enjoys a slower traffic pattern as Sir Francis Drake [SFD]. narrows to two lanes. Being set away from the area’s main artery [the HUB], a mellow pace of life begins and some of the most varied architectural styles blend into the hillsides (both North and South of SFD). While this unique hamlet exemplifies Arts n Crafts style, there are also Victorian charmers, California Bungalows and mid-century modern architecture, with a few townhome complexes as well.

What to Love

People & Lifestyle

Fairfax is known for its natural beauty, and many of the homes are spread up above the small town’s valley floor, on winding narrow streets. Neighborhoods are distinguished in some ways by their street names or the canyon/ hill they are closest too - and many neighbors get to know each other, so there is a community vibe. Oak Manor is slightly north of Sir Francisco Drake (SFD) Blvd, so does divide the Tamorancho area from the southern hills community.

San Anselmo, slightly East of Fairfax, is separated more by the North and South sections of the Ross Valley corridor along SFD and has several distinct neighborhoods: Sleepy Hollow, known for grand estates and being tucked into the hills, Scorch Park (Westerly surrounding Memorial Park) and Seminary - closer to the downtown area where the Post Office, Imagination Park and Police Station is walkable to Creek Park (where many live concerts are held during the

Dining, Shopping & Entertainment

The bucolic look of downtown Fairfax can betray what is actually behind the facade. A heightened level of sophistication exists within the diverse selection of unique dining destinations, brew pubs, and proudly independent boutiques/ galleries. With a rich past and history dating back to 1855, many longtime residents enjoy the small-town feel of this enclave tucked into the hills for it’s local scene of music, bicycles and diverse housing stock [think = arts & crafts vs. on-trend new construction]…What is not present is equally important, as you’ll find practically NO box stores or chains in Fairfax, and only a smattering along Sir Francis Drake Blvd. if you’re entering the Red Hill corridor from San Rafael’s Miracle Mile.

Red Hill Shopping Center offers locals an array of options for food, groceries, dining, health and wellness, beauty and style, banking and dry cleaning. On the South side - also know as Seminary or “the flats”, the downtown section of San Anselmo centers around the original Junction [San Anselmo has a long history of electric trains connecting to Sausalito and SF]. This area is flat, walkable and has many more boutiques, and famous restaurants…

Want to dive into San Anselmo’s dining scene? Start from the Hub where Center Blvd. meets Sir Francis Drake and Red Hill Ave. (and the surrounding area) to find the city’s destination restaurants: Insalata’s, Madcap, Comforts, Sushi69, KientzHall, TacoJanes, Pizzalina, or TheHub

In Fairfax, come early or plan for a more relaxed vibe and time to soak it in - as the town is small yet delightful for the scene/ scenery, and start at VillageSake, Stillwater, Way Station, Mas Masa, Sorella Cafe, or Find your new favorite beers at Hen House Brewing West County Pub
